Curmudgeonly old man and occassinal singer/songwriter Neil Young has had a spider named after him.
The spider, a sub-species of trap-door, was discovered (and named) by East Carolina University biologist Jason Bond; Young is “worthy of that honor” because he’s been an activist for social and political issues. The Neil Young spider has distinctive genitalia and often conceals itself in burrows. Which sort of sounds like Neil Young.
Joel Graves, a spokesman for Neil Young’s management company, Lookout Management, said the company had no comment.
