Watching Later… with Jools Holland the other night, I was shocked to find that The Fratellis had turned from fun, sing-along indie-rock band to rubbishy, sub-Jet pub-rock. And lead singer/guitarist Jon has started to resemble more Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s Peter Hayes than Mark Bolan. WTF, mate?

This song, “Mistress Mabel”, hasn’t exactly got me excited for new album Here We Stand (Christ, it even sounds like it should be a Jet album), which is released on June 9th.

Better of listening to “Baby Fratelli” from their debut, Costello Music, instead.
