A pretty mellow mix for you this weekend because, well, I’m sort of in a mellow mood.
We’ve got the vaguely-threatening “Everything In It’s Right Place” from Radiohead’s Kid A (I’m currently trying to convert some friends, who are Radiohead fans, to actually like this album); the new We Are Scientists and Nick Cave songs I’ve posted about before on the blog; some songs (namely the Bloc Party remix, Semifinalists and Broken Social Scene) from a compilation I got a couple of years back called Fear Of Music, on the V2 label; some nice, laid-back hip-hop with De la Soul (having recently discovered 3 Feet High and Rising, it is now one of my favourite albums. Ever) and Handsome Boy Modelling School (yes, it’s a remix of a Jack Johnson song but, well, I kinda dig Jack Johnson).
And, as usual, I have to include one of those songs which were on every music blog several months ago – I’m talking about MIA’s “Paper Planes”, obviously – but, well, I’m kinda slow, and I just heard the song in the trailer for the new Seth Rogen film, and it got me kinda pumped; both for the film, and the song.
